The newly appointed Board of Directors of Zambia Railways Limited has embarked on a tour of Zambia Railways facilities as well as familiarize with operations between the company and its business clients.
The team led by Board Chairperson Dr. Evans Chabala commenced the tour in Kabwe ,where the team visited the Centralised Train Control(CTC), Main Workshops among other facilities.
The tour continued in Ndola and Kitwe where the team held meetings with some key customers as well as toured their facilities and some of the railway land encroached sites respectively.
Among the customers visited were Dangote Cement, C.Steinweg Bridge, Smart Logistics, Reload Logistics, Impala Logistics as well as a visit to Bwana Three Coal transhipment facility.
Addressing Journalists at a media briefing in Kitwe, Dr Chabala reiterated the Board’s resolve in ensuring that ZRL operates efficiently and profitably.
Dr. Chabala said the railway company has huge potential for business growth hence the need for investment partnerships.
Other Board members in the delegation include; Board Vice Chairperson, Christabel Ngongola –Reinke, Eng. Abel Ng’andu, Mr. Muchindu Kasongola and Mr. Stanley Kasengo.
Meanwhile in Lusaka, the tour started with a trolley ride to Ngwerere to check on the extent of encroachment in the area. The team toured Chandwe Musonda facilities where Zambian Furnace Supplies (ZFS) have set up an intermodal facility. A plant tour at Lafarge was undertaken to appreciate the operations at the plant.
In Southern Region, the team toured the Kazungula Bridge as well as the Border Post facilities.
