TRAIN COLLIDES WITH TRUCK AT NAKAMBALA TAFIMBWA LEVEL CROSSING- MAZABUKA
KABWE, Zambia, 24th January, 2025 – In a regrettable incident at 06:20hrs this morning, a south bound light engine goods train no.901 on locomotive 1112 hit into a light truck canter registration number BAD 8164 at Nakambala Tafimbwa level crossing between Mazabuka-Magoye Section in Southern Province.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the driver of the light truck canter Mr. Cheelo Waza aged 39 , of Monze District, failed to stop at the named level crossing leading to the collision with the train.
The incident did not result in any injuries or fatalities , but caused damage to the truck and the locomotive.
In light of this incident , we continue urging all motorists to exercise caution , patience and attentiveness when approaching and traversing railway crossing points , as failure to do so can have devastating consequences .
Zambia Railways Limited would like to reiterate the need for concerted efforts among stakeholders in addressing rail -road safety issues.
