IDC CONDUCTS MID- YEAR PMC REVIEW SESSION FOR ZRL

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) conducted the scheduled mid-year Performance Management Contract (PMC ) Review Session with Zambia Railways Limited(ZRL).

The PMC Review is based on the targets set for 2024. The purpose of the review is to assess performance as well as issues affecting the performance and ways to address these issues.

The meeting which was held at ZRL Headquarters in Kabwe yesterday,provided a platform for dialogue and constructive feedback to enhance the company’s operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.

The IDC delegation was led by the Chief Portfolio Officer Mr. Siakakaye Siameja who engaged in insightful discussions with the ZRL team led by the company Board Chairperson Mr. Emmanuel Hachipuka.

In his remarks virtually, Mr. Hachipuka expressed gratitude to the shareholder for the continued support to the railway company as well as the valuable insights during the review session.

After the PMC Review Session, Mr. Siameja and his team undertook a familiarization tour of ZRL’s nerve centre , the Centralized Train Control (CTC) Office where monitoring and controlling of train movements take place.

The team also toured the Kabwe Main Workshops which was primarily established for repairs of ZRL locomotives and wagons. However , ZRL has commercialized the Workshops, and the company is currently offering engineering services to external consumers to generate revenue. Some of the services on offer include; repairs of mining equipment, production of school desks, manufacturing of farming equipment such as hammer mills, water tanks , oil clarifiers, oil driers, hoes among others.

Zambia Railways Limited is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
