GOVERNMENT COMMITS TO RAILWAY NETWORK CONNECTIVITY IMPROVEMENT
President Hakainde Hichilema says Government has prioritized the development and rehabilitation of the railway network in order to improve connectivity at both national and regional levels.
Speaking when he opened the Fourth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly, Mr. Hichilema said the main projects to be undertaken in improving connectivity include the development of the Lobito Railway to the Atlantic Ocean through Angola, the revitalization of the Tanzania Zambia Railways Authority (TAZARA), and rehabilitation of Zambia Railways.
President Hichilema said the government acknowledges that railway transport remains the most cost -effective mode for the haulage of heavy and bulk cargo.
