GOVERNMENT ACTIVELY WORKING TO REVITALIZE ZAMBIA RAILWAYS – DR. MUSOKOTWANE
Finance and National Planning Minister Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane says government with support of Cooperating Partners is actively working to revitalize Zambia Railways in a methodical and cost-effective manner.
Speaking when he was presenting the 2025 national budget, Dr Musokotwane said the government’s ultimate goal is to improve track speed, signaling and secure funding for long-term investments.
Dr Musokotwane disclosed that government in the second phase of revitalization aims to accelerate the acquisition of additional grant financing for the long-term rehabilitation of the railway system from Chingola to Livingstone.
He added that the government is in discussion with Cooperating Partners for possible support with rail wagons and locomotives.
