Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (ZCILT) recently toured the Zambia Railways Limited’s Livingstone Station in a bid to deepen their understanding of the railway operations and to strengthen ties with the country’s railway sector.

The ZCILT team was led by their CEO Mr. Rodgers Nkandu and the ZCILT President Retired Brigadier General (RTD) Mr. Fred Mwale alongside other senior members of the institute.

The delegation was warmly received at the Livingstone Station, a hub of historical and operational significance by Zambia Railways Limited Regional Manager – South ,Mr. Joel Chilufya, who said the station, is an integral part of the railway network, as it serves as a critical junction for both passenger and freight services, contributing significantly to the region’s connectivity and economic activities.

Mr. Chilufya added that the tour provided an in-depth look at the station’s facilities, operational procedures, and the challenges faced by the railway sector in maintaining efficient and reliable services.

He said the delegation also had the unique opportunity to explore one of the most iconic landmarks in the region, the Victoria Falls Bridge.

This historical structure, spanning the Zambezi River and connecting Zambia and Zimbabwe, serves as a major rail link and is a testament to early 20th-century engineering prowess. The bridge not only supports the region’s transport network but also stands as a symbol of the enduring bond between the two neighboring countries.

The Victoria Falls Bridge is managed by the Emerged Railways Properties (ERP) Limited a company jointly owned by the Governments of  Zambia and Zimbabwe through their respective railway companies, namely, the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) and the Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL).
