JOB PURPOSE:
To undertake the marshalling, admitting and dispatching of trains.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Marshalling of trains, signaling, admitting and dispatching.
- Prompt supplying and clearing wagons, to and from Sidings and compiling of works orders.
- Prompt movement of wagons on site sidings to facilitate loading/offloading operations in line with traffic safety regulations
- Participate in the sensitization of employees on new policies, strategies and industry benchmarks and best practice
- Ensure prompt preparation of work orders for placement and clearance of loaded/empty wagons.
- Ensure that all operating rules, regulations and safety protocols are adhered to and implemented for all traffic/train movements.
- Provide technical expertise on train operation matters.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Prioritize the admitting and dispatching of trains in line with the set plans and operational regulations so as to minimize fuel costs and interchange costs
- Ensure effective and efficient utilization of equipment and resources.
- Ensure variable costs are managed in line with output/production
- Ensure implementation of strategies and action plans for optimal utilization for both machines and human capital to accomplish set profit levels.
- Liaise with other ZRL units involved in running trains in order to plan and determine optimal traffic operations parameters.
- Liaise with commercial department to place wagons at customer siding.

Academic /Professional Qualifications:
- Full Grade 12 school certificate with at least 5 ‘O’ levels
- Certificate in any technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Agriculture Mechanics, Transport and Logistics) from any recognized School/college, will be an added advantage.
