MAZABUKA MAN JAILED 10 YEARS FOR UNLAWFUL CUTTING OF SECURITY LIGHT POLE

The Mazabuka High Court on Thursday, June 5, 2025, sentenced Gilbert Musukuma aged 55  to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour for unlawfully cutting a 12-meter security light pole, a property of Zambia Railways Limited valued at K20,076.00.

Musukuma was apprehended by the Zambia Railways Police on Sunday, November 10, 2024, after being found cutting a security light pole in Monze Shunting yard.

This conviction demonstrates the seriousness with which the law views vandalism and theft of railway infrastructure.

ZRL welcomes the judgement and the efforts of the Zambia Police Service in ensuring that perpetrators of such crimes are brought to book.

We urge members of the public to continue reporting any instances of vandalism or theft to our security personnel or the nearest police station.
