ZAMBIA RAILWAYS LIMITED PARTICIPATES IN WORLD CLEAN-UP DAY

Zambia Railways Limited took part in the World Clean-up Day in Kabwe on Friday 20th September 2024.

The Clean-up took place at the Kasanda railway crossing point, and was held under the theme: “Arctic Cities and Marine Litter”

Zambia Railways Limited Safety Officers’ participation in the Clean up exercise demonstrates the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

The event was graced by the Kabwe District Commissioner Mr. Lennox Shimwambwa, Kabwe Mayor His Worship Mr. Patrick Chishala, and some Ward Councillors.

And officiating at the event, Central Province Permanent Secretary Dr. Milner Mwanakampwe, said the World Clean-up Day is an important day to the business community in the world, as it advocates for a clean business environment.

Dr. Mwanakampwe added that this is the more reason the business community in Kabwe needed to participate in the event.

He also challenged business houses in the town to consider painting their buildings so as to beautify and uplift the face of Kabwe Town.

Dr. Mwanakampwe also commended various stakeholders for participating in the event.

He said this in a speech that was read on his behalf by the Kabwe District Commissioner Mr. Lennox Shimwambwa.

Meanwhile Kabwe Mayor Mr. Patrick Chishala said the Local Authority is determined to ensure that Kabwe Town is kept clean at all times.

Mr. Chishala thanked government and cooperating partners for supplementing the Local Authorities efforts of keeping the town clean by providing them with several tools for carrying out the work.

Further, Kabwe Municipal Council Director Public Health Mr. Christopher Mutonga commended the business community in Kabwe for turning out in numbers and participating in the event, saying it is a testimony that people want to operate in a clean environment.
