ZRL, CHOMA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL DISCUSS COLLABORATIVE APPROACH TO ADDRESS RAILWAY LAND ENCROACHMENTS

In line with Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL)’s commitment to protecting railway land and fostering partnerships with stakeholders, ZRL recently held a meeting with Choma Municipal Council (CMC) to discuss the way forward in addressing railway land encroachments in Choma.

During the meeting ZRL Managing Director Eng. Cuthbert Malindi emphasized the importance of a united approach to tackling land encroachments through mutually beneficial solutions that balance development needs with the integrity of the railway network.

Eng. Malindi disclosed that ZRL is desirous to enter into partnerships with the local authorities across the country in a bid to address land encroachments.

Meanwhile Choma Municipal Council Mayor His Worship Javen Simoloka reiterated the local authority’s desire to collaborate with ZRL in dealing with land encroachments.

After the meeting ZRL and CMC officials visited Manchinda (New Bus Station) area as part of the familiarization tour.

In attendance from the Local Authority was the Town Clerk Mr Davies Musenge and the Director Planning Mr George Biemba.

Other officials from ZRL were Regional Manager – South Mr Joel Chilufya, Manager Business Development Ms Agness Chaila, Acting Property Manager Ms Mwada Zulu, Manager Public Relations Ms Sombe L. N g’onga, Station Master – Choma Mr Andrew Kamwela, Engineering Superintendent – South Agrippa Machakube, ZR Police Officer in Charge – Choma Arnold Chikule and Property Officer – South Jacob Zulu.
