ZRL EMPLOYEE WINS KABWE OPEN
Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) Assistant Public Relations Officer Denmark Mulambo has won the 2023 Kabwe Open Golf Championship making it the 10th time holding the championship title.
At the same event, Mulambo also won the A Division Gross Winner.
The tournament was held at Kabwe Golf Club from 10th – 11th June,2023.
Speaking at the Prize Presentation Ceremony, Central Province Minister Honourable Credo Nanjuwa , MP in a speech read on his behalf by Kabwe District Commissioner Mr. Lennox Shimwambwa said Government attached great importance to the promotion and growth of sports in the country.
Honourable Nanjuwa said the development of sports infrastructure promotes mass participation and contributes to improvement and perfection of diverse talent in sport.
“ I wish to make an appeal to the Golf Union and other stakeholders to support and strengthen golf in our communities , establish district structures especially in the remote parts of the province and the country at large” said Honourable Nanjuwa
Meanwhile Zambia Railways Limited Acting Managing Director Fred Mwila in his speech read by the Acting Director Human Resources and Administration Reuben Lungu disclosed that the company has consistently supported Kabwe Golf Club with both material and financial support in hosting various tournaments.
“For the first time, ZRL has partnered with its customers namely; Reload Logistics, Calabash Freight and ZMART to co- sponsor this year’s tournament. Our sponsorship does not only benefit the golf club but it also provides economic benefits to the people of Kabwe”” said Eng. Mwila
And Calabash Freight Chief Executive Officer Nimon Zulu reaffirmed his personal and company’s commitment in supporting golf as a sport that creates business synergies as well as promote health in society.
Speaking at the same event, Reload Logistics Operations Manager Ernest Kunda pledged continued support to the growth of the game through offering both material and financial support.
Other ZRL employees who walked away with prizes included the Legal Counsel Zacchaeus Musonda( Morning Runners Up Net Winner), Senior Corporate Planning Officer Jabes Tembo(Executive Runners Up Net Winner) and Senior Planning Officer -Operations Steven Ntumba(Overall Net Winner and Afternoon Net Winner).
Other dignitaries present were Kabwe Central Member of Parliament Honourable Chrizoster H. Phiri and Zambia Golf Union Committee Member South James Chona.
